A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Wedding photography until recently had not changed for many years. Photographers simply went out and captured as many images from a “shot list” as they could. Anything from the cake cutting to the garter toss and the first dance were all scripted shots, and they all looked the same from wedding to wedding.

There is a group of twenty first century photographers out to change that scripted type of wedding photography. This contemporary type of photographers does not set out to stage every photo in the wedding. Instead, we try to remain in the background and photograph your wedding in a photojournalistic style. In the words of Bill Hurter, “This allows the event itself to take precedence over the photographer’s directions – and the resulting pictures are more spontaneous and lifelike. Plus, there are more opportunities for original, completely un-staged images that better tell the story of the whole event.”
